Food Colors

Food colors made by UNILEX are incorporated in food preparations like foodstuffs, ice-creams, dairy products, confectionery, sweetmeats, soft drinks, beverages, pet food etc. and oral medicines like capsules,tablets, syrups, liquids, etc, to give them a pleasant look and agreeable appearance.

Their usage is regulated by the FDA.

However, the colors themselves have to conform to the specification laid down by the bureau of Indian Standards and it is obligatory to sell them under the certification marks issued by the B. I. S. in India. The colors are identified by and classified as the "colors Index Number" allotted by "The Society of Dyers and Colourists", an international body.

The UNILEX Range of Food Colors :-

Primary colors : The water soluble variety, that's available in normal powder and micro fine forms.
Blends of Primary colors : For getting different material shades.
Metallic Lakes : Generally aluminium and calcium. These are insoluble in water and widely used in surface coatings, capsules, food packing material, etc.

Synthetic Food Colors

Synthetic Food Colours, also known as Artificial Food Colours, are manufactured chemically and are the most commonly used dyes in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
